Native to India and Southern Europe, it has a powerful pungent aroma and astringent, bittersweet taste. Used in the preparation of pickles, curry powders, pastes and spice blends. A small amount of fenugreek seeds will complement other spices – too much will result in an unpleasant bitterness & will dominate the dish.

Fenugreek is used as a digestive aid & natural herbal medicine in the treatment of diabetes, hair care and to promote breast milk in nursing women.
Pour I cup of boiling water over one tsp crushed fenugreek seeds, steep for 15–30 minutes, strain. May add honey or lemon to flavor & drink at least 3 times a day.
