Pearled Barley is a polished barley with removed outer hull, some bran and endosperm layer, resulting a creamy colored grain with less fiber and less nutritious.
Pearled barley is softer and releases starch into cooking liquid, makes soup thicker or make a creamy, chewy dish.
Cooking instruction:
In a pot add 3 cup of water to a cup of barley, a pinch of salt, bring to boil. Reduce the heat, cover and simmer for 45 minutes or until tender. Remove from heat, let sit covered for 5-10 minutes. Drain off any excess liquid.
